A Value Stream is the sequence of all activities required to deliver Value to a recipient, from the emergence of a Need to delivery of the finished product, service or information.
Human Explanation
It shows the complete path by which Value is created, rather than only one Process.
Why it Matters
It helps identify value-creating work, unnecessary activities, Waste and Constraints.
Conceptual Boundary
A Value Stream covers the entire Flow, including movement between departments and organisations. It is not the same as a single Process.
Practical Perspective
Value Stream analysis is a core Lean practice used to design more effective systems of work.
