Definition
Data Storytelling is a method of presenting analytical results by combining data, visualisation and context into a coherent narrative that supports understanding and decision-making.
Human Explanation
It does more than show charts. It explains what the results mean, why they matter and what questions or actions should follow.
Why it Matters
Even a technically sound analysis creates little value when its audience cannot understand its meaning or consequences.
Conceptual Boundary
Data Storytelling is not a licence to manipulate the audience or select only evidence that supports a preferred conclusion. The narrative must remain traceable to the data, acknowledge relevant uncertainty and preserve context.
Practical Perspective
An effective data story guides the audience from the question and evidence, through interpretation, to conclusions and possible actions. The story supports a decision; it does not make the decision or replace the reader's judgement.
