Definition
Compliance is the condition in which an organisation meets the legal, regulatory, contractual and internal requirements applicable to its activities.
Human Explanation
It means operating in accordance with laws, standards, policies and obligations to customers and partners.
Why it Matters
Non-compliance may cause legal sanctions, financial loss, loss of Trust and operational disruption.
Conceptual Boundary
Compliance does not automatically mean strong security. Formal conformity does not replace effective Risk Management.
Practical Perspective
An organisation may pass every Audit and still remain vulnerable. Compliance and security support one another but are not identical.
